The VRmont Cup is a video game design competition for students in grades 6-12. Form a student game studio, design for an open source video game, and show your work at a live game-developer micro-con.

THE COMPETITION
What is the VRmont Cup?

A video game design competition for students aged 11-18 (grades 6-12). Create your own game development studio and design elements for an open source video game. The best submission is included as a storyquest (a playable minigame) in the video game Threadbare, and all submissions become available for future developers to use in their own creations.

The 2026 season.

The competition begins
February 16. Registration closes and student studios kick off their game design documents.

April 18 at Hula Lakeside in Burlington. Present your work, meet industry game developers, and celebrate.
